Whole Body Healing, Balance & Long Term Wellbeing
At the HealthHub Kingsbridge, acupuncture is delivered through a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach, supporting the body as an interconnected system rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
Led by Jo, our fully trained TCM Acupuncturist, treatments focus on restoring balance, improving flow within the body, and addressing the root causes of physical, emotional and hormonal concerns.
This is acupuncture as it was originally intended — holistic, individualised and deeply restorative.
What Makes TCM Acupuncture Different?
Traditional Chinese Medicine views health as a balance between systems within the body. When this balance is disrupted — through stress, illness, injury or lifestyle — symptoms appear.
Jo’s approach includes:
- Detailed health history and lifestyle discussion
- Pulse and tongue diagnosis
- Identification of underlying patterns of imbalance
- A personalised acupuncture treatment plan
Rather than focusing solely on where symptoms show up, TCM acupuncture looks at why they’re there in the first place.
This makes it particularly effective for people who:
- Have ongoing or complex symptoms
- Feel “out of balance” but can’t pinpoint why
- Want a natural, whole-body approach to health
What Can TCM Acupuncture Help With?
Chronic pain & persistent discomfort
TCM acupuncture supports the body’s natural pain regulation systems and addresses underlying contributors such as stress, inflammation and poor circulation.
Often treated concerns include:
- Long-standing back, neck or joint pain
- Chronic pain conditions
- Recurrent migraines and headaches
(For acute or injury-specific pain, physiotherapy-led acupuncture may be more appropriate — see below.)
Stress, anxiety & emotional wellbeing
TCM acupuncture is particularly powerful for calming the nervous system and supporting emotional regulation.
Clients commonly seek treatment for:
- Stress and anxiety
- Emotional overwhelm
- Tension held in the body
- Difficulty switching off
Many people report improved sleep, clearer thinking and a greater sense of balance.
Sleep problems & fatigue
If your sleep feels broken or unrefreshing, acupuncture can help regulate sleep patterns and restore energy.
Support includes:
- Insomnia and disrupted sleep
- Poor sleep quality
- Ongoing fatigue or low vitality
Hormonal balance & women’s health
TCM acupuncture is widely used to support hormonal health by working with the body’s natural rhythms.
Common reasons clients attend include:
- Menopause symptoms
- PMS and cycle irregularities
- Fertility support
- Hormonal imbalance
Each treatment plan is tailored to your individual experience, not just your diagnosis.
Digestive health, immunity & energy
By supporting gut function and overall energy flow, acupuncture may help with:
- IBS and bloating
- Digestive discomfort
- Low immunity
- Frequent illness
- Burnout

Acupuncture & Physiotherapy – What’s The Difference?
We’re often asked about acupuncture and physiotherapy, so it’s important to be clear.
At the HealthHub Kingsbridge:
- TCM acupuncture is delivered by Jo and includes full Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment (pulse, tongue, constitutional diagnosis).
- Physiotherapy-led acupuncture is used specifically for pain relief and musculoskeletal conditions, often alongside hands-on treatment and rehabilitation. It does not include full TCM diagnosis.
If your main concern is pain related to injury, movement or function, physiotherapy may be the best starting point.
If your symptoms are systemic, hormonal, stress-related or persistent, TCM acupuncture is often more appropriate.
If you’re unsure, we’re happy to guide you.
